EASTON GREY MALMESBURY ROAD ST 88 NE (south side) 3/21 Monument to Adye family in the churchyard, lm south-west of porch, Parish Church GV II*

Chest tomb of exceptional quality. 1731. Limestone. Rococo style with moulded plinth, deeply projecting cyma-recta moulded slab and gadrooned, scrolled and fluted angle pilasters. Elaborately carved in deep relief with 2 putti to south face flanking an inscription cartouche: florid lettering in italic script. Further putti to west end; skulls, an hour glass and scythe and devil's head to east end. The Adye family held the manor of Easton Grey in the early C18. (Shell Guide to Wiltshire, 1968)
