TL 97 NE BARNINGHAM BARDWELL ROAD
1/2 Lodge Farmhouse -

Former farmhouse. Dated 1642 on chimney-stack. 2 storeys. Timber-framed, faced in early C19 white brick, rendered on sides and rear. A C18 extension along the back wall has its roof linked into the main roof at a shallower pitch. Black-glazed pantiles, fully hipped roof. The internal chimney-stack has raised pilasters down the sides and a square corbelled-out head. The date 1642 is carved into 2 bricks on the front, and seems to be the date of the house. Late C19 sash windows with a single vertical bar to lights: 2 canted bays with tented roofs to ground storey, 2 sashes in deep reveals to upper storey. Half-glazed entrance door in a small white brick porch, flat-roofed and crenellated A single-storey lean-to along the north side is bricked on its south end to line up with the front. Timbers said to be covered inside.
