EAST KNOYLE MILTON ST 83 SE (south side) 8/46 Clouds Cottage GV II Bakehouse, game larders and stores to Clouds House (q.v.), now detached cottage. 1880s for Percy Wyndham by Philip Webb, altered 1930s. English bond brick, tiled roof, brick stacks, former game larder dressed limestone. Present entrance to rear; single storey and attic. Two pairs of French windows, planked door and steel casements, the doors at different ground levels because the services were built across the slope. Right return is gable end with segmental-headed 12-pane sash and pair of gabled dormers; the jettied gables are a typical Webb motif. Rear facing lane has two 12-pane sashes and 3-light leaded or steel casements, triple gabled dormers with same features, gabled louvre to right to former larder. Square stone former larder to right has 2-light mullioned casement and pyramidal tiled roof with weathervane. Part of a larger group of service buildings, much of which were demolished in the 1930s, including kitchen. (J. Franklin, The Gentleman's Country House and its Plan, 1835- 1914, 1981)
