16/43 Cottage at SP 3590 1657
GV II
Cottage. Early to mid-C18. Roughly squared and coursed limestone with stone
slate roof. Two-unit plan. Two storeys. External stone end stack to right with
chamfered offsets and brick top stage and integral end stack to left, rebuilt
above roof in C20 reconstituted stone. Two-window front; leaded metal casements
in wooden frames with stone cills and flat stone arches, 2-light to first floor
and 3-light to ground floor. Central boarded door with flat stone arch. Straight
joint to right dividing cottage from ruins of former adjoining cottage (not
included). Right hand end stack has open fireplace at base with wooden lintel,
formerly heating ground floor room of ruined cottage. Interior not inspected.
