FINSTOCK CHARLBURY ROAD SP3616 (North-west side) 17/32 Barn approx. 100m NE of Finstock Manor House

GV II

Barn. Probably late C17. Squared and coursed limestone. Roof with stone slates to front and corrugated iron to rear. Five bays. Opposed central cart entrances. Central porch to front with weatherboarded gable and pair of large boarded doors with wooden lintel; loft opening in right-hand return with wooden lintel. Lean-to addition (see straight joints) in angle of porch to left, latterly pigstyes. Left-hand gable end with rectangular vent or owlhole in apex and 2-light loft-window with wooden lintel. Small-paned glazed window with wooden lintel in right-hand gable end. Lean-to porch to rear. Interior not inspected, but probably has roof with pairs of purlins (see purlin ends) and lofts at each end (see beam-ends in side walls). The barn forms part of a farmstead group to the north-east of Finstock Manor House (q.v.).
