SU28SE ASHBURY IDSTONE 8/33 Rectory Farmhouse 21/11/66 II

Farmhouse. Early C18. Uncoursed sarsen rubble, squared and coursed chalk, left hand section rebuilt in C20 brick; C20 tiled roof; brick stacks. Central staircase plan with one 4 bay and one single bay rear wings forming U-plan; 2-storeys and attic, 5-window range. Brick segmental arches over late C19 two-light casements in place of original sashes; central late C19 panelled door. Sarsen to ground floor with chalk first floor divided by brick bandy dentilled eaves cornice; 2 gabled C20 dormers; hipped and gabled roof; ridge and end stacks. Wing to rear right of uncoursed sarsen rubble with brick dressings; C20 casements; flat gauged-brick arches over first floor windows, brick segmental arches on ground floor; 6-panelled door with scrolled brackets and flat hood, flanked by canted bay windows. Single-bay wing to rear left. Interior not inspected but said to have good staircase and early C18 panelled rooms.
