GV II
House, now 2 dwellings. Datestone 1661; C20 alterations. Coursed limestone
rubble; gabled concrete tile roof; stone right end stack. 2-unit plan with
cross-passage. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Timber lintel over tall C20
window in gabled central stair-turret. Timber lintels over early C19 three-light
casements to right, and late C19 three-light casement above concrete lintel over
C20 window; C20 gabled roof dormer. C20 entry in left side wall. Rear, original
front, has C20 kitchen extension on ground floor. Former service range, to
right; of similar materials with stone ridge stack; timber lintel over C20 door
to No.9 on left; C20 door and windows to No.11 on right. Interior of No.9:
mutilated ground-floor beams; early C19 dog-leg staircase in stair-turret;
chamfered beams on first floor; 2 sets of principal rafters, one with butt
purlins, survive of original collar-truss roof. Included for group value.
