UGGESHALL TM 48 SE 4/63 Whitehouse Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17 core, the left hand end rebuilt C18; early-mid C19 facade. Timber framed core, now largely rebuilt in brick, with a white brick facade with pilaster strips to the quoins; the left hand gable end is of C18 red brick. Slated roof. 2 storeys and attic. 3 cell form. 3 windows, C19 4-light casements under cambered arches; the outer lights of each window have small panes, the 2 inner lights large panes with a single horizongal glazing bar. Lobby entrance with 6-panel door, rectangular fanlight, pilasters and bracketed cornice. Internal stack and gable end stack to right, both rebuilt in early-mid C19 white brick. Some timber framing is exposed internally in the rear wall and right hand gable end at first floor level, with evidence for 2 original windows (the mullions not visible); the remainder of the frame has largely disappeared. Some original floorboarding.
