3/190 Barn at Alex Farm
II
Barn. Late C18/early C19. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins. Welsh slate roof. Two parallel naves of 11 bays each, that to north divided 4:2:5 with 2-bay midstrey added over centre pair of bays, with small lean-to store on east. South side has central midstrey with blocked arch, and flanking openings with segmental arches, and similar large openings to gable ends. North midstrey has flue through inner arch and clock tower on gable. Gabled finials. Trusses to king post and raking struts. Said to have been built for the Stroudwater, Thames and Severn Canal Co.
