WALDRON CROSS IN HAND 1. 5208 Heathfield TQ 52 SW 2/830 Holy Cross Priory 10.12.73 II
2. Large U-shaped mansion in Tudor Gothic style designed by Matthew Digby Wyatt and built in 1865-70. Red brick with stone dressings. Slate roof with brick chimney stacks. The entrance front presents a varied composition of gables, roofs and chimneys. The hall is in the recessed centre crowned by a lantern, with a 2-storeyed porch to the left and a large canted bay window with mullions and transoms to the right. The projecting wings have gables, mullioned windows and turrets. The garden front is of 2 storeys and basement. Central gable. Two-storeyed canted bay window to left. Octagonal turret to right. Further gable beyond with 3-storeyed canted bay window adjoining. Elaborate carved staircase and fireplaces. Modern additions.
