Details
CHIRTON THE STREET SU 05 NE (east side) 3/76 Barn at Chirton Farm II Barn in village street, north of farmhouse. C18. Timber framed and elm weather-boarded to north and east, replaced in pine elsewhere. Thatched roof, hipped to north end, quarter-hipped to south. Four bays with aisles on rear and north end. Cart doors in 2nd bay from north, thatch swept over doors to aisle at rear. Interior has posts with straight braces to tie beams, principal rafters and collars, with 2 tiers of butt purlins. Longitudinal joints halved and trusses numbered from north.
