Details
MENDHAM THE STREET TM 28 SE 2/67 The Old Rectory - -- II
House. In 2 sections of differing height: the main part is a single-cell 1 early C17 parlour range, with small probably earlier section to the right. Timber framed and plastered; plaintiled roof except rear of right section which is pantiled. 2 storeys and attic to left, 1 1/2 storeys to right. C19 casement windows, those to the main part of the house with pointed arches in the upper part of each light. In the left gable an ogee-headed window with Y- tracery and square-leaded panes. Mid C20 gabled entrance porch and door. Gable stack to right of main range. The main part of the house has an ovolo- moulded bridging beam on the ground floor, exposed first floor framing and original newel stairs (2 flights) and floorboarding. Side-purlin roof with cranked wind-bracing.
