Former farmhouse, built in 2 stages, c.1570 and c.1620. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell plan, at first with cross-entry; with lobby-entrance since c.1620. Timber-framed and pebble-dashed; the parlour cross-wing to left has an oversailing gable tie beam to left with C17 drop finials beneath the bargeboards. Plaintiled roofs. An axial chimney of C17 pink/buff brick: the base is moulded and offset, and the shaft is of sawtooth form. A C18 gable chimney to right. C19 small-pane casements, some replicated in mid C20. Mid C19 entrance porch of red brick; slated roof with cusped bargeboards; boarded door. The main range of c.1570 has good chamfered 1st floor joists and plain studding; clasped purlin roof. The cross-wing has close-studding, ovolo- mullioned windows (mainly blocked), on-edge deep floor joists, wind-braced butt-purlin roof. Four good C17 fireplaces with 4 centred arches; the hall fireplace is wider and lintelled.
