BUCKLAND SU3497 8/30 Willow Cottage, South Lawn and Holly Tree Cottage

GV II

Row of 3 cottages. c.1770-80. Coursed limestone rubble; C20 tile roof; C20 brick stacks. 2 storeys; 7-window range. Flat arches of tooled stone over C20 door to left and late C18 six-panelled (2 glazed) door to right. Similar arches over 4 first-floor and 7 ground-floor windows; C20 two-light casements and three C18 two-light leaded casements. Gabled roof; gable end stack to left and 3 ridge stacks. Similar arches over late C19 two-light casements to rear. Interior: Windows set in panelled reveals with panelled shutters and moulded architraves. Open fireplaces with wood bressumer and bread oven; one late C18 six-panelled door; collar-truss roof with butt purlins. Attached to right gable wall is a one and a half storey stable in coursed limestone rubble with half-hipped stone slate roof; timber lintel over plank loft door and flat stone arch over C20 casement to front gable; right side has flat stone arch over plank stable door and timber lintel over double doors with strap hinges to coachhouse.
