Details

WOOLPIT GREEN HILL TL 9762 5/146 Tyrells - 15.11.54 (formerly listed under Mill Lane) GV II House, C15. A cross-wing, built as one dwelling with the adjoining houses to left (see The Cottage, Item No. 5/148). 2 storeys. Timber-framed, the framing exposed with plaster infill panels and the 1st floor end-jettied at the front. The ground storey walling underbuilt in painted brick in C20. An C18/C19 casement with leaded lights at 1st storey, at ground storey a C20 cross-casement with leaded lights. Exposed joist-ends and close-studded upper storey walling with moulded and embattled tiebeam. Plaintiled roof: the original pierced and cusped bargeboards were in position until c.1980. Interior: Heavy unchamfered 1st floor joists. Plain crownpost roof: cambered tiebeam with heavy arch braces. The crownpost at open truss with 2-way braces is possibly not original.
