GREAT MILTON CHURCH ROAD SP60SW (West side) 5/119 Stable range approx 30m. N of 18/07/63 The Great House (Formerly listed as Stables at Milton House)
GV II
Barns, stables and coach house. Early C18; possibly partly earlier. Coursed limestone rubble with timber lintels and some ashlar dressings; old plain-tile roof. L-shaped range. Barn range to rear now has additional doorways and some blocked slits. Stable and coach house range, running forward from right, has doors and tall windows under stone flat arches, and two carriage entries under 3-centred arches with keyblocks, enclosing fielded-panel double-leaf doors. Interiors: Higher barn to left has 3-bay clasped-purlin roof braced from wall posts; 6-bay barn to right has C19 roof; stable and coach house range has a clasped-purlin roof with upper-cruck trusses and possibly-earlier elements including an arch-braced collar and some curved windbraces. Several cross walls have timber-framed gables with brick infill.
