Details
1. TOWER STREET 972 (East Side) Nos 51 & 52 SU 8504 NE 3/263 II 2. Pair of C18 houses. 3 storeys each and 2 window bays each. Both houses have hipped roofs; No 52 has a hipped slate roof with higher roof-line and higher frontage to house than No 51; No 51 has a tiled roof. Both of red brick. Small dentilled cornice below eaves. Windows on 1st floor and base of and floor windows in both houses are in alignment; shorter 2nd floor windows in No 51. Sash windows in flat arches with rubbed brick voussoirs; glazing bars intact except in ground floor windows of No 51. No 52 has a 6 panelled door with top 2 panels cut away and glazed; blocked semi-circular fanlight with wheat-ear garland over. Door in reveals; doorcase with Doric pilasters and pediment over. No 51 has a 6 panelled door with top 2 panels cut away and glazed; door in reveals behind a doorway with a flat-arched stepped architrave with rectangular pediment over.
