GV II
Farmhouse, C16, refronted in C18, rubble stone with stone slate roofs, east end stack and ridge stack to main range, west chimney gable to west end cross wing. Two storeys and attic. Main range has regular three-window front of C18 cyma-moulded flush mullion windows, 3-light each side, 2-light to centre over plank door in raised moulded surround with hood on brackets. Ground floor windows have hoodmoulds. Lower cross wing has gable projecting to north and ovolo-moulded C17 mullion windows with hoodmoulds, one 3- light to ground and first floors, one 2-light to attic. Roof of main range is hipped down to cross wing ridge. Interior: Possible former open hall house, of three room and cross passage plan with fine Tudor-arched fireplaces in hall and on each floor of cross wing. Hall has high inserted 4-panel compartmental ceiling with deep hollow-moulded beams. Trusses above have some smoke blackening. South end floor levels bear no relation to C18 front, heavy chamfered and stopped beams. North end room has very heavy floor joists. Probably the house of the Druce family, recorded in Turleigh from C16.
