4/204 Eight monuments in the churchyard between 17 and 26 metres south of chancel of Church of St James
GV II
Group of two chest tombs, six pedestal tombs. Late C18 and early C19. All limestone except for one large lias pedestal tomb. Tall lias pedestal tomb with plain recessed panels and inscription to Eleanor Hunter died 1852. Five pedestal tombs, east one to Henry Thornbrough died 1801, north one to John Collett died 1833, rest illegible; all with fielded panels, plain or fluted friezes and weathered tops, one with gadrooned decoration. Early C19 chest tomb amongst pedestal tombs has plain panels, floral drops and fluted frieze. Chest tomb near lias monument has fielded panels, fielded pilasters and quarter balusters to moulded frieze, inscription to Isaac Pearce died 1831.
