Details
DRINKSTONE PARK ROAD TL 96 SE 1/21 - Pair of Cottages, 490m - west of The Old Rectory II Pair of cottages; built as one house in early C17, subdivided early C19. One storey and attics. 3-cell cross-entry plan. Timber-framed and plastered; some C18 herringbone pargetting to rear elevation. Thatched roof: two dormers, collapsed into the building. Early C17 chimney of pink/buff brick. Early C19 casements in fragmentary condition. Two C19 boarded entrance doors; that to right is at cross-entry position. Quite substantial framing for date: unchamfered floor-joists and leaf-stop chamfered main beams. Clasped-purlin roof. Back-to-back lintelled open fireplaces with inserted C19 ranges. An early C17 moulded plank door, and one of early C18 with two bolection-moulded panels. In very poor condition at date of survey: roof over service cell collapsed, thatch missing in other areas, front wall at parlour cell on point of collapse. Included despite condition, for.complete early C17 framing.
