Details
KERSEY THE STREET 1. 5377 (west side) The Bell Inn TL 9944 57/464 TM 0044 58/464 23.1.58 II GV 2. A C15 and C16 timber-framed and plastered building much restored, and modernised. Roof tiled. Two storeys. The north block has a cross wing at the south end with a jettied upper storey and the south block has a jettied upper storey on exposed joists. All the timber-framing is exposed on the front and there is some exposed framing at the rear. Some of the front timbering is renewed. The south block has a carved bressumer and the north block has an original doorway with a 4-centred arch with carved spandrels and 2 small lights on the north side. The whole front has 5 window range of modern casements with leaded lights in "old style". The ground storey has 2 bays with moulded brick sills. Two tall external chimney stacks at the rear.
