Stable. Early C18. Timber-framed and weatherboarded on a high plinth of red
brick and black knapped flint. Double Roman tiles. 4 bays of varying length,
divided into loose boxes. Substantial framing, with some reused timbers: long
primary braces and bisected studs. The tie-beams are morticed into the sides
of the main posts well below their tops, and act as main beams for the joists
of the ceiling, with the hay-loft above. Roof in 7 short bays: principal
rafters deeper, but no wider, than the common rafters, ridge piece, clasped
purlins. A small entrance door on the south side. A purpose-built stable of
this kind is unusual in Sufolk.
