10/22 Coach House at Kingswood
G.V. II
Coach-house. 1893. Designed by Watson Fothergill for Mr. Marshall. Red and blue brick, some half timbering. Tiled roof, hipped to the right, sprocketed eaves. Blue brick to base and to lower half of domestic doorways and right corner where bricks have round moulded edges. The first floor is half timbered with herringbone brick nogging. One and a half storeys, 3 bays with first floor sill band. Large doorway with double plank door having glazing bars to the top. To the left is a single segmental arched 2 light casement with glazing bars to the top. Further left is a doorway with plank door under segmental arch. Above are 3 glazing bar casements. Projecting from the left is a 2 storey plus attic single bay range. Pyramidal tile roof with sprocketed eaves topped with a weather vane. Blue brick and half timbering as the main range. Single segmental arched cross casement having wooden slats under the transom and glazing bars over. In the side wall is a doorway with stable door and glazing bar overlight under segmental arch. Above is a small doorway with plank double door and in the side wall a small glazing bar fixed light. The west, south and east sides of the attic have single sloping hoods with entrances for pigeons under. Further left is a single storey single bay with similar cross casement. to the rear are some later extensions. Interior of stable has original zinc troughs and iron stall divides.
