GREAT TEW OLD ROAD SP3929 (East side) 10/57 No.21 27/08/56 (Formerly listed as Cottage No.21) GV II
House. C17. Coursed marlstone rubble with some ashlar dressings; thatch roof with limestone-ashlar ridge stack. 2-unit through-passage plan. 2 storeys plus attic. 2-window front has stone-mullioned windows of 2 and 3 lights with labels flanking a canted stone-roofed oven projection; doorway to extreme left has an early C19 chamfered stone basket-arched surround below a label with lozenge stops; doorway to extreme right has a stone-slated canopy with cusped brackets. At first floor there are two 3-light casements with ovolo-moulded wood mullions. Stack, to right of centre, is in line with oven projection. Rear has a central canted stair projection, small first-floor casements and roof dormers. Ground floor is concealed by later outshuts. Windows have leaded glazing, mostly lattice pattern, Interior not inspected. (County Sites and Monuments Record; Buildings of England: Oxfordshire, p.627).
