Details
ISLIP B4027 SP51SE (East side) 7/70 Upper Woods Farmhouse 26/03/86 GV II Farmhouse. Early/mid C17, extended C18. Limestone rubble with wooden lintels; Stonesfield-slate and old plain-tile roofs with brick ridge stack. 2-unit lobby-entry plan, extended to 3 units. 2 storeys plus attic. 2-window front of main range has a central doorway with a heavy chamfered frame, and stop-chamfered lintel, to left a 2-light C18/C19 casement, to right an original 4-light casement with ovolo-moulded frame; at first floor 4-light casements flank a small central window. Roof has a large central stack with 4 diagonal shafts with corbelled caps. Added bay to left has a lower roof. Gable walls have blocked windows. Rear of earlier range is altered at ground floor, but has two 3-light casements at first floor with heavy frames, and has a small central dormer with a leaded casement. Interior: massive central stack with back-to-back fireplaces, one open, one still blocked; stop-chamfered beams; old plank doors.
