Group of houses, now three dwellings. C16 core of two builds (Ryder); C18 and C19 additions; C20 alterations. Sandstone rubble; stone slate, Welsh slate and C20 cement-tile roofs. C16 part, H-plan; C18 house added parallel to left cross-wing and C19 house added to right cross-wing in line with C16 hall-block. Two storeys, six first floor windows to C16 part. Entrance front: altered door and window openings; C20 casements. C20 door in broad cross-wing to right; flanking three-light windows on both floors; wall-plate ends exposed. Hall block of two first-floor windows has two-light and three-light casements. Left cross-wing has door to left of three-light casement; two two-light casements to first floor; truncated end stack. Left cross-wing retains stone slate roof; hall block has C20 cement tiles with ridge stack to left; Welsh slate to right cross-wing. Added C18 block to left has renewed gable windows and end stack. C19 block to right: door to left; two windows to each floor, irregular fenestration; window in single-storey addition to right; end stacks; lateral stack of cross-wing penetrates front roof slope.
Rear: exposed timber-framing. Wall posts to central block and inner corners of cross-wings. Jowled-head king-post truss to right gable. Principals and truncated king-post in left gable; external stack. Left return: altered, C18 two-window front. Large quoins; central door flanked by renewed three-light casements.
Interior: cross-wing to left (gutted at time of resurvey) has three wall posts, mid-rails and spine beams; two king-post trusses with braces to ridge. Side wall of cross-wing set a short distance from the wall partitioning off hall block, the latter with vertical studding above high rail (the gap beneath perhaps originally linked by a coved dais canopy). Hall block: studded partition wall exposed in chamber; central king-post truss; another truss against broader cross-wing to right. This cross-wing has full-height studded partition wall on raised sill; blocked first-floor doorway to rear chamber; front chamber with rebuilt side wall fireplace and C17 painting on tie beam; framing in rear rooms of cross-wing concealed. No 4 included in item because it incorporates rear part of the right cross-wing at time of resurvey.
