9/89 Bowsen Cruck Barn, approximately 450m west of the junction with Brown House Lane and Bolsterstone Road

Barn. Probably late C17, adapted for educational use c1980. Internal timber framing, coursed rubble gritstone, stone slate roof. 2 cruck bays with additional half bay to south-west end. Some rough quoins, square vent holes to south-west gable, otherwise recent openings. Interior has 3 cruck pairs, low, well curved and raised approximately 2 ft from floor. Single purlin, diagonal set ridge in crossed apex. Wall ties present in all but north-east pair (halvings remain). Some wind-braces.
