PENISTONE SE20SW HORNTHWAITE HILL ROAD (east side, off), Thurlstone 3/23 Cross Royd Head Farmhouse and attached barn

Laithe house. Mid to late C18, altered. Coursed squared stone. Stone slate roof. Two storeys, two-bay house. Three bay barn. Quoins. The house has entrance to left and right, the former blocked. the latter in C20 stone porch. Two 2-light windows to ground floor, heightened and probably formerly of 3 lights. Two 3-light window to 1st floor. All have flat-faced mullions The barn, to right, has cart entry with stone lintel, part-blocked with brickwork to give a segmental-arched head. Small door to right (altered). Two square pitching holes at high level. Chamfered gable copings on moulded kneelers. Ashlar ridge stack with chamfered cornice. Rear: C20 stone porch to right. Large lean-to garage to left. Two double-chamfered windows to centre, 1st floor, both with mullions removed.
