House. Circa mid C17 origins, considerable rebuilding and extension, probably of both the C18 and C19, late C20 renovations. Whitewashed rendered cob; thatched roofs, the left-hand gabled at the left end, half-hipped at the right; the right-hand roof hipped at the right end; 2 axial chimneys. Complex development. The present plan consists of 2 adjoining ranges, the right-hand range, single-depth with a rear outshut, is under a lower roofline and heated by an axial stack to right of centre, the left-hand range, heated by an axial stack in the centre, has a rear left projection. The C17 plan is difficult to unravel but it is possible that the room heated by the right-hand stack was the C17 hall with an unheated inner room to the left and the former passage and lower end adjoining the hall at the right replaced by a 1-room rebuilding. The range with the higher roofline is probably C18 in origin. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2:3-window front, the 2-room block at the left under a higher roofline and with a separate entrance to left of centre. The right-hand block has the eaves thatch eyebrowed over the first floor windows and a C20 glazed door with a C20 lattice porch to the left, 2-light C20 casements with square-headed panes except for first floor left which is a 3-light C18 window with square-leaded panes and some old glass. The left-hand block has casement windows with small panes, some with square-leaded panes. Interior Substantially modernized, the putative hall has one chamfered stopped half- beam and a large fireplace with a plain lintel and a bread oven, the extreme right- hand room is heated from the same stack. Some old rafters survive in the roofspace below a later roof. In spite of the C20 renovations the house preserves an attractive cob and thatch exterior, original internal partitions and some original detail.
