- II
House: early C17 core, extended and remodelled late C18 with minor C19 and C20 additions. Flemish bond orange and red brick with some yellow headers. Graduated Welsh slate roof with a stone ridge and coping. 1 gable and lateral brick chimneys. Long rectangular plan, perhaps developing from C17 hall and crosswing. 2-storey, 6-bay south front. Right hand 3 bays present a symmetrical facade with channelled stone heads and moulded composite stone sills to C20 steel casements with glazing bars. Central bay has recent Tuscan porch and doorcase to 6-panelled door. 3 bays to left are set back and have 2 and 3-light steel casements under segmental brick heads and a central 6-panelled door in a heavy wooden case. Sun lounge added to the left. Interior: room to left of entrance reveals timber small framing which also survives inside the brick skin, in parts. Several rooms have ovolo-moulded ceiling beams with jewelled stops of this period. The majority of the fittings are late C18. Good oak well staircase with turned balusters, moulded and ramped handrail with a spiral end. Cut brackets on open string. Fielded panelling in the well. 4 and 6- fielded panelled doors in doorcases with panelled soffits. Fragments of C17 painted glass in the stairwell window.
