House. C16 with C17 parlour addition to right. Renovated and extended to
rear c.1975. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled roof. 3-cell form. 1½
storeys. Mid C20 single-pane casement windows. Mid C20 boarded door. 2
raking dormers. Internal stack with shaft of C19 red brick. A C16 diamond-
mullioned window (altered) is exposed in the left gable end and another in the
rear wall; a third is visible internally. C16 section comprises hall and
service cells: exposed irregular studding, full height in the side walls;
reverse-curved braces passing through floor level. One-bay hall with
substantial plain joists. Remains of cross-entry doorways and one service
doorway, all square-headed. Tie beam above service partition has been cut and
replaced by long irregular braces from each wallpost, meeting over a doorway
in the centre; one of these braces has been partly removed. Side purlin roof,
originally half-hipped at the service end. The stack is a C17 insertion,
perhaps preceded by a timber flue. Plain studding at later end.
