Details
SP 0937 BROADWAY CP HIGH STREET (south side) 8/94 No 69 (The Bindery) GV II Shop. Probably early C19 with remains of C16 or earlier. Squared limestone and render, with remains of timber-frame. Welsh slate roof. Main part of facade of stone, with two windows on each floor with plain reveals. On the ground floor are sashes with glazing bars; on the first floor casements. Doorway at left has plain reveals. A similar doorway to the right has a C20 timber canopy. At the right is a cross-wing which has a late C19 glazed shop front with glazing bars and timber fascia. Above, the wall is rendered and has a C20 window with glazing bars. The only evidence for a timber-frame visible on the ground floor is a plastered principal post with jetty bracket visible at the right behind the shop front. Chimney behind ridge to right of door. In 1907 Miss Kathleen Adams started her book-binding business in the building.
