Former Cistercian Abbey church, now ruined fragment of south east
angle of south transept. c.1200. Limestone ashlar. Triforium
and clerestory arches can be seen, single splayed and round
headed with moulded imposts to triforium and external angle shaft
with scalloped capitals to the clerestory. Pilaster buttress to
east side. Inside is a roll moulded string course from which
rises a circular wall shaft to a floriated capital supporting a
vaulting rib. On the south side can be seen one vaulting corbel
for the vault to the sacristy adjoining the transept to the
cloister, and above the line of the dormitory roof. Scheduled
Ancient Monument No.6.
