BRIDSTOW CP SO 52 NE 4/20 Moraston House
II
House. Circa 1815 with late C19 extensions. Rendered brick and sandstone with rendered brick stacks and hipped Welsh slate roof. U-plan with main front to south-east and late C19 wings extending northwards. Two storeys to front, three to rear wings. South elevation has 2:1:2 windows, glazing bar sashes to upper storey, plate-glass sashes to ground floor, all with louvred 2-leaved shutters, advanced centre with Doric 4-column porch and semi-circular headed doorway, fanlight and glazed door. Interior has canti- levered staircase with one niche beneath and two above the curve of the staircase, mahogany handrail; quadrant-curve carving to tread ends and alternating system of plain and enriched balusters; principal room to west of main range has high 2-leaved doors, fluted architraves with corner paterae to door-surrounds of ground floor, two ground floor fireplaces have central shell motif, box shutters to main ground floor rooms and between inner and outer doors of main south entrance. The coloumns of the porch are hollow and wooden.
