WITNEY WOOD GREEN SP3610 (South side) 6/271 Church of Holy Trinity GV II
Church. 1849, by B. Ferrey. Squared and coursed limestone with ashlar quoins and dressings; gabled stone slate roof. Nave and chancel. Gothic Revival , in Early English style. Label mould with ballflower and head stops over 4-light east window of graduated lancets: 2-bay chancel has similar hood moulds over lancets to south, and north vestry with pointed moulded doorway and Caernarvon-arched window. 5-bay nave has offset buttresses, lancets and 2-light window in each east bay; pointed moulded south door and south porch with pointed moulded arch set on engaged shafts, West gable: gabled bellcote; king's head set above quatrefoil light and 2 lancets and pointed moulded doorway with engaged shafts, all with head stops to hood moulds. Interior: trefoiled piscina and pointed chamfered vestry door. 2-bay chancel roof with scissor trusses and arched windbraces. Moulded chancel arch set on engaged shafts with bell capitals; oak screen with C15 style tracery. Octagonal wood pulpit and Early English style stone font. Gallery at west end, with trefoil frieze. 5-bay arch-braced roof, braced to carved corbels. (Buildings of England: Oxfordshire, pp.845-6).
