Details

NORTH MOLTON EAST STREET (north side), SS 7429-7529 19/142 Squires Cottage - GV II Cottage. Late C17, with late C20 alterations. Uncoursed stone rubble to ground floor and rendered cob to first floor. Gable-ended C20 machine-tile roof. Stone stack with c. 1900 brick top. Plan: Two-room plan. Larger principal room to left with external end stack and smaller unheated room to right. Central entrance. Two storeys. Exterior: Roughly-symmetrical front. Three first-floor C20 two-light small-paned wooden casements with 2-light glazed gablets above, and 2 ground-floor C19 two-light wooden casements. Roughly-central C20 half-glazed door with C20 gabled bracketed porch. Interior: Left-hand ground-floor room has chamfered half beam to left, and fireplace with dressed sandstone jambs and chamfered wooden lintel with straight stops. Probable blocked doorway to left of fireplace. Front door has C17 internal chamfered wooden lintel with convex runout stops. Stud partition wall between rooms.
