II
Former Forest of Dean Court of Speech, now hotel. South west corner dates from 1670s, enlarged in late C19.
Squared rubblestone, hipped tile roof with overhanging coved
eaves, scattered brick ridge stacks, one stone stack in south west corner. 'U' shape.
2 storeys and attic. Main facade has 5 windows, mostly C20 stone mullion and transom, hood in moulds to some ground floor windows,
5 hipped dormers. Main entrance is left of centre.
Right return also has 5 windows, mainly C17, all with hood moulds, centre doorway of
C19, with plaque over with escutcheon bearing arms of Charles II and date 168. This
is entrance to former Court Room of Verderers' Court, whose interior has original
panelled timber ceiling, dais at south end and moulded stone fireplace.
