14/15 The Old Coffee Tavern (north) and Norman Cottage (south) -

GV II

House, now 2 properties. Later C17 altered C18 early-mid C19 and c.1900.Timber frame, plaster and brick. Plastered street front, 2 storeys, old tile, half-hipped roof with central and S end brick stacks. The Old Coffee Tavern has good, early-mid C19, double shop front with square, wooden entrance porch and continuous fascia with moulded cornice. Pilasters flanking windows have Soanian groove pattern. Double, half-glazed doors with fielded panels. Circa 1900, 3-pane casements to both floors. Norman Cottage has Ground floor C18 sash windows, buttresses flanking door and floor band. N gable end with exposed half-timbering and weatherboarded Ground floor. Interior of The Old Coffee Tavern has good early C19 cellar which was formerly used for public baths.
