House. Circa 1910-20. Eclectic, Arts and Crafts style, by W Woodward for himself. Painted stone with red brick base and string course. Westmorland slate roof, some imitation half- timbering. L plan. 2 storeys, with one and a half storey service wing on NE. Leaded casements of various sizes. SW wing has external mullioned chimneystack and imitation half-timbering over door. 2 storey canted window bay with small pane, mullioned and transomed casements on SE gable end. Garden side has 3 bay Tuscan loggia, 2 tall mullioned stacks and similar 2 storey canted window bay on NW. Very good imitation C17 interior with some details copied from Sidehill House. Ground floor scratch moulded panelling throughout. SE room has deep fireplace nook with imitation Jacobean and mid-C17 plasterwork incorporating central painted panel. Diagonal and scrolled brackets to lintel and floor beams. Staircase well has vertical and horizontal balusters. Upper floor rooms have open timbered roofs and other plasterwork fireplaces. Lutyens influenced garden, imitation C18 wrought iron gate near NE corner.
