Details

LOPPINGTON C.P. LOPPINGTON SJ 4629-4729 15/38 Bull Ring Cottage - and Hall Cottage GV II House, extended and divided into 2 dwellings. Early C17, extended and partly rebuilt late C19. Timber framed with painted brick infill; red brick additions and partial rebuilding; machine tile roofs. L-plan with cross-wing projecting to rear on right. One storey and attic to hall range. 2 storeys to cross-wing. Framing: square panels, 4 from cill to wall-plate, with short straight tension braces to cross-wing; front gable of cross-wing has late C19 herringbone decoration above tie beam and projecting single-purlin ends; wall beneath rebuilt in late C19 brick but retains original jowled wall posts; collar and tie beam trusses visible to gable end of hall range and rear gable of cross- wing. C20 casements, one to left of hall range with contemporary window to C19 timber framed gabled eaves dormer directly above; one casement on each floor to front gable of cross-wing, that on ground floor with late C19 segmental head. Side wall of cross-wing has C20 casements to ground floor with boarded door to left and half-glazed door to right; C19 timber framed gabled eaves dormers directly above casements. Prominent red brick ridge stack in 2 sections to right of centre to hall range and external red brick stack to rear gable of cross-wing. Entrance to Hall Cottage through late C19 addition to left of hall range (not of special architectural interest).
