C1890. Former Baptist church in an effective Early English style built of red sandstone
with ashlar sandstone dressings. Front has north west tower with pinnacled angle
buttresses and broached spire. Northern front with bays arched granite shafted
entrance, carved spandrel panels and open cinquefoil in stilted 2-centred main
arch with finialed and chequer-panelled gable over arcaded balustrade flanking;
lean-to roof up to sill of slight (2 + 1 + 2) west window with quatrefoils and
central sexfoil to apex. Gabled body of church surmounted by finial. To south
and projecting towards road is an apsidal ended chapel like wing, probably
baptistry, with gables to each face over coupled lights and cinquefoils inserted
in circular frames.
