2. Four builds, representing piecemeal redevelopment of sections of the front range of the former Chequer's Inn and the acquisition of adjoining properties. No 6 (east). Late C18, altered. Three storeys. Three windows. Tiled roof. Stucco front. Slightly recessed sash windows with exposed boxing; paired central windows with glazing bars to 2nd floor; ground floor window in recess. Modern carriage entrance at east end. No 6 (centre). Circa 1833. Three storeys. symmetrical 5 window facade with slightly projecting central entrance bay. Hipped slate roof. Stucco with cornice and blocking course. Recessed sash windows some with glazing bars. Modern entrance. Lead rainwater head inscribed 1833. No 6 west). Mid-late C19 range. Two storeys and dormers. Three bays; fenestration 2:1:2. Slated mansard roof. Stucco with pilasters rising through ground and 1st floor carrying entablature with balustraded parapet above. String at 1st floor level. Three flat-headed dormer sashes. Recessed sash windows with pilasters; 1st floor windows round-arched with archivolts. No 8. Mid C19 (after 1849), formerly a private house set back from the road. Three storeys. Four windows. Hipped slate roof. Stucco with rusticated block quoins cornice and blocking course and plain band at 1st floor level. Architraved sash windows with glazing bars and 1st floor cornices. Former entrance replaced by window. Interior of Nos 6 and 8 altered.
