8/59 Ice House c. 100 metres - south of Worden Hall
GV II
Ice house with decorated stone facade, date unknown but probably late C18 or early C19. Ogee-headed entrance now blocked with bricks, the masonry round it incorporating ex situ carved pieces of C16 or earlier: 2 small statues (on carved corbels which do not match them), 3 faces, and a coved block with hollow spandrels.- These may have come from the Church of St. Andrew (q.v.) the old nave of which was demolished - with gunpowder - in 1816. (W.J. Sawle, Leyland Parish Church 1770-197O). Interior of - ice house not accessible.
