Details

SX 07 NW ST KEW ST KEW 5/216 The Barton Farmhouse - GV II Farmhouse. Possibly with C18 origins remodelled in early to mid C19. Stone rubble. Front range; slate roof with hipped ends and brick end stacks with projecting stack on left-hand hipped end. Stone rubble range to rear with brick dressings and slate roof with gable ends. Front range of double depth plan with 2 rooms on front and 2 smaller service rooms to rear with stair in wide central through passage. Range to rear of 2-room plan with circa mid C19 extension on left-hand gable end of rear range. Single-storey outshut extension on right-hand gable end. 2 storeys symmetrical 3-window front. Ground floor with two 4-pane sashes and C20 door with late C19 open timber gabled porch with shaped bargeboards and finial with pendant. First floor with three horned 12-pane sashes. Evidence of rebuilding on front and right-hand side elevations. Set back on left-hand side, circa mid C19 2- storey extension with casements and entrance to right. Interior of front range with C20 chimney pieces and circa C20 stair. Interior of rear range not inspected.
