Details

SX 07 NW ST KEW 5/176 Treharrock Manor - II Large house. Early C19, dated 1812 on courtyard front and 1815 in cellar. Built for Abraham Hambly. Front elevation painted brick in Flemish bond; rear and side elevations painted and rendered slate stone rubble. Slate roof with hipped ends. Large central brick axial stack to front range and brick axial stack heating right- hand range. Plan: Main range on south of double depth plan. Central stair hall with rooms ranged around; two main reception rooms on front and service range to rear of central stair hall containing large kitchen and pantry. Rear right-hand wing on east of single depth plan containing further reception room and back stair. Further service rooms in parallel back range on north enclosing third side of open courtyard and including washhouse and dairy. Curtain wall encloses fourth side on west with wide entrance into courtyard. Two storeys and attics. Symmetrical five window front with central door and 12-pane sashes. C19 door with 6 flush panels and semicircular cobweb fanlight in cast-iron. Doric porch. Overhanging eaves on paired brackets. Bell in bellcote in roof of rear range. Three bay front to right with 12 pane sashes and glazed door. Service range to north enclosing third side of open courtyard: two storey range on right (east) and single storey range on left (west) with brick segmental arches to openings. Curtain wall on west enclosing fourth side of courtyard with wide segmental arched opening. Interior: Contemporary and very complete in detail although relatively plain. Central top-lit stairhall, stone paved. Open string stick baluster stair with curtail, rising in single flight to upper hall with balustrade and fluted Doric screen of two columns and two half columns. Balustraded well above to attic floor. Dining room to left of front door with plastered, panelled walls and marble chimney- piece. 6 panel doors, architraves, cornices and chimney-pieces complete in all rooms. Service rooms and attic rooms also largely unaltered.
