Details
SX 07 NW ST KEW 5/163 Great Brighter Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. Circa early C19. Stone rubble and cob, rendered and painted. Rag slate roof with gable ends and brick end chimney stacks. Outshut on right-hand gable end of stone rubble with lean-to slate roof and projecting stone rubble rear lateral chimney stack. Double depth plan with 2 large rooms on front, the larger right-hand room originally the kitchen with large fireplace and cloam oven. Entrance to left of centre leading to narrow passage with stair to rear. 2 small, probably unheated service rooms on rear. Kitchen later added in outshut on right-hand gable end, heated by projecting stone rubble rear lateral chimney stack. 2 storeys regular 2-window front with granite lintels to openings. Ground floor with entrance slightly to left of centre with panelled door and slate-hung porch with part glazed door. Flanked by 2 circa late C19 16-pane horned sashes. First floor with 2 similar sashes. Rear elevation with circa early C19 sashes and casements, one renewed with timber lintels. Interior with C19 ceiling beams and unmoulded lintel to kitchen fireplace. C19 framed stair.
