GV II

Public house, and cottage. Early C19, with early C20 alterations to the Royal Oak. The Royal Oak: painted rendered stone, with applied timber-framing. No.51 is of coursed squared stone. Pantile roof with coped gables and shaped kneelers; brick end and centre right stacks. The Royal Oak has central-entry plan. 2-storey 3-bay front, first floor jettied and right end bay gabled. Part-glazed board door between 3-light canted oriel to right and 2-light window to left. All windows are small-pane casements, and all, except that to left on first floor, are cross windows with timber mullions and transoms; first-floor left is of 4 mullioned lights. No.51 has 2-storey 1-window front. 4-panel door beneath narrow overlight, to left of 16-pane sash window, both with painted wedge lintels. First-floor window is unequal 12-pane sash with timber lintel. Both windows have painted stone sills.
