ST THOMAS KESTLE SX 28 SE 2/85 West Kestle Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse. Probably mid-to late C17 with later additions and alterations. Limewashed roughly coursed slate-stone with cob to rear slate roof. 4-unit central through-passage plan with later outbuilding attached to left. House in 2 sections with 2-storey catslide outshut to front of right part. 2 storeys. Two C18 casements with L-hinges directly below eaves, one to ground-floor left of left part and one on each floor to right of right section. Top-hung casement directly below eaves to left of right part. Ground-floor windows both have wood lintels. Boarded door under lean-to hood to right of left part in angle with right section; red brick ridge stack immediately to right and integral end stack with red brick shaft to left. Outbuilding attached to left gable end has wide double doors to far right and plank door to left. Single-storey lean-to dairy to rear on right of house. Interior: Inspection of house not possible at time of resurvey (January 1988) but likely to be of interest. Outbuilding has collar truss roof in 4 bays.
