SD4761NE BRIDGET STREET 1685-1/7/19 (South side) No.2 Former warehouse behind No.5 Great John Street
GV II
Warehouse. c1800, converted to flats 1994. Apparently built as part of the rear extension of No.5 Great John Street (qv). Coursed sandstone rubble with stone slate roof. Deep rectangular plan. 4 storeys above cellars, with a central loading slot under a projecting gable and flanked by windows on the first and second floors. On the ground floor there is a window to the left and, to the right, a doorway up a flight of 5 steps which leads to an internal staircase. On the top floor there is a window on the left and a round arch to the loading slot, which is wider to accommodate a crane which is now missing. All the openings have plain surrounds, and the joinery is of the later C20.
