BEGBROKE SPRING HILL ROAD SP4613 (North side) 11/4 No.50 (Hall Farmhouse)
GV II
Farmhouse. C17, remodelled and extended c.1820 with later C19 extensions. Coursed limestone rubble; hipped concrete tile roof; rendered stone ridge stack. 2-unit lobby entry plan extended to L-plan with rear left wing and finally double-depth plan. 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range, Keyed flat stone arches over Cl9 six-panelled (4 glazed) door with overlight and 6-pane sashes. Rear left wing has similar windows and hipped roof. Rear outshut with Welsh slate roof adjoins c.1840 rear right service wing with gabled Welsh slate roof and brick stacks. Interior: early C19 panelled shutters and doors; central do-leg staircase with stick balusters. Early C19 fireplace to rear left and C19 copper and stone sink to rear right. The external walls bear evidence of openings to C17 house. House stands on site of medieval manor house. (Information from the VCH)
